Gayà: "We tried every way, putting crosses into the box, and the goal didn't come"
Valencia CF captain José Luis Gayà expressed his and the team's thoughts on a LaLiga Matchday 16 defeat to Cadiz CF, talking to VCF Media.
The loss
We're really hurt, because we'd been talking about how we start games, about how we knew the way Cadiz would play -shutting off at the back and attacking on the counter- and once again we weren't alert to it. We need to be stronger in that respect if we want to start winning games again, because that is killing us, those chances in which we are attacking and we lose the ball. We need to stop their moves. We can't allow them through so easily, because that's what the opposing teams live off.
Not being able to score
It was very difficult, because we knew that they were a team who defend very deep when they go ahead, and it's very difficult to get through. They feel comfortable defending in their own area. We tried every way, putting crosses into the box, and the goal didn't come. A goal would have changed the dynamic with the fans behind us, supporting us to the fullest. In the end, it's normal that they leave here annoyed, because it's a defeat that hurts. We now need to look to the next game.
Two tough defeats
It's a second consecutive defeat in the league. We have to look at the next game, the Supercopa, and try to pick ourselves back up as soon as possible. We're very hurt today, just like against Villarreal, because of the goal we conceded late there. These are two very painful defeats for us.
